Getting a Lift for Your Flu Shot and More

We all have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks. The time for pumpkin picking and trick-or-treating is just around the corner. Unfortunately, so is flu season.

The Center for Disease Control recommends getting the flu shot by the end of October. Recent studies show that the vaccine reduces the risk of illness by 40 to 60 percent. The flu is particularly severe for seniors, so if your loved one needs someone to take them to their doctor or local vaccination center, Senior Home Companions can help!

Although caregivers are largely associated with home care, that doesn’t mean your loved one has to be stuck in the house. Caregivers are happy to provide transportation for a wide variety of needs, including …

  • Medical appointments — again, don’t forget about getting your flu shot!
  • Grocery shopping
  • Family visits
  • Other outings — a trip to the movies or a stroll in the park? We’re here to get your loved one there!

“Seniors can often have difficulty getting around, so this is an essential service,” said SHC’s People Champion, Heather Todd. “We’re happy that we can lighten a family’s load and provide transportation for their loved ones as needed.”
